While there are several crimes committed by government bureaucrats, the Director of Human Resources for the Employment Training Administration for the Department of Labor had a hilarious downfall. This person not only was caught misusing government property but also got themselves caught up in a police sting. While locating this person's name would be doable, they have enough of a downfall, as they deserve.
What Happened
Here, via the Department of Labor OIG report, is the downfall.
The Office of Inspector General (OIG) received an allegation that the Director of Human Resources for the Employment Training Administration (ETA), was misusing government equipment and their access to personal identifying information for personal gain.
Our investigation substantiated that the Director misused their government issued equipment by operating multiple personal businesses using the government-issued laptop. In addition, the investigation substantiated that the official failed to notify the department when the local police department seized their government-issued laptop and cell phone pursuant to the execution of a search warrant in an unrelated matter. The OIG also substantiated that the employee provided false and misleading information related to their personal businesses and loss of government equipment throughout the OIG investigation.
On August 8, 2020, we referred our findings to ETA for review. On January 14, 2021, the OIG was notified that the employee was terminated from federal employment.
This person shows why the government needs to be monitored, even though they did cause some comedy with how bad they were at being corrupt. This is just one employee of many who do not follow the rules because they are protected in so many ways. Most people talk about the criminality of the government and this will be shown in this news outlet.
