Known Somali terrorist allowed to walk around free in the US for a year after DHS releases him



The border between Mexico and America is a well known open mess, with the Democrats claiming those wanting to close it are racists and against Hispanics. The thing is, terrorists who are crossing the border who are not Hispanic and wish to kill anyone who will suit their purpose. Several members of Congress are wondering why a terrorist connected to the Somali Islamic terrorist organization Harakat Al-Shabab al-Mujahideen, or Al-Shabab, has been allowed to travel around the US without being stopped by law enforcement.

How He Entered

Here, via the New York Post, is what happened.

A Somali terrorist was allowed into the country and was able to operate freely for almost a year before authorities realized their error and rearrested him.

Republican lawmakers are demanding information from Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas about what happened to the man — and whether US citizens funded any part of his journey to or stay in the US.

The 27-year-old Somalian — who so far has not been identified by name — was on the watchlist as “a confirmed member of al Shabaab” involved in the use, manufacture or transportation of explosives or firearms, but a border bungle meant he was released after initially being arrested for crossing into the country illegally in California in March 2023.

Letter from Congress

Here, via a House Homeland Security Committee press release, is a letter sent to Homeland Security on this.

The Committee on Homeland Security (Committee) is conducting oversight of the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) procedure for processing and detaining known or suspected terrorists at the Southwest border. According to recent news reports, DHS arrested at least two known terrorists in January 2024, who had been released into the United States. Since February 1, 2024, Committee staff has contacted DHS several times to confirm and clarify the facts surrounding these reports; however, our questions have not been answered. 

The first case involves a member of the U.S.-designated foreign terrorist organization alShabaab. According to a news report, the alien was “caught illegally crossing the southern border near San Ysidro, California on March 13, 2023;” however, he was deemed a “mismatch” and was subsequently released into the interior. Almost one year later, the Terrorist Screening Center “made a redetermination” and confirmed the alien as a terrorist member of al-Shabaab, and then Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) located and arrested him.

The second case involves a Pakistani man alleg



edly on the terrorist watch list who illegally entered the United States but was apprehended by the Border Patrol the following day. Less than two weeks later, the Terrorist Screening Center confirmed his status on the “terror watchlist;” however, ICE eventually released him through the Alternatives to Detention program.

There are several of these terrorists have been allowed to walk around the United States for years, all so that the liberal agenda of fake racism can be pushed. People have died because of these individuals, which only further shows the dangers of the policy that is allowing this to happen. When Democrats talk about the border is about helping others, show them this information. The border needs to be protected, not allowed to be a sieve for every terrorist that walks the Earth.
