There aren't that many people aware of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) or how it shapes America. This is the primary public employee union and a major contributor to the Democrat Party. It is a major voice in the area of trying to remove GOP candidates, especially those who could take some of their power. All of this is funded by money taken from the very government employees they are representing, whether they know it or not. Funds for this go into the United We Can (not to be mistaken for the religious organization) PAC, which is run by the SEIU secretary treasurer and heir apparent April Verrett.
Who They Are
SEIU is the largest labor union in this nation, with also having ties in Canada. It does not just focus on public employees, which allows it to have far more money from paychecks. The influence it has comes from political spending and organizing campaigns, while making sure to keep its varied base to allow it to tap into multiple industries. They split from the AFL-CIO to form a similar group called Change to Win in 2005, which had combined totals of 5 million members and over a billion of assets. Two heads of the union have been convicted of felonies, with other members known to be violent during demonstrations.
United We Can
The PAC that the SEIU uses is called United We Can, which comes through their Pea-Federal, utilizing the philosophy of Political Economy Analysis. In 2016, they spent almost $8 and a half million to oppose the GOP, while spending a little over $5 million to directly help the Democrats. Most of that was spent on the Presidential election. During the 2021-2022 election cycle, approximately 40 percent of all political spending was by government union PACs, with SEIU being the largest spender.
Racketeer Tactics
To explain the tactics that the SEIU uses when they do anything, it is best to look at the attacks they made on the food service provider Sodexo. It was proven in court that the SEIU used extortion and a barrage of other illegal tactics to attack the company. During the court case, the “Contract Campaign Manual” was disclosed, which detailed what illegal actions the union used to force companies to either unionize or be destroyed.
Here, via Vincent Vernuccio of the Mackinac Institute, is what the manual says:
SEIU’s manual details how “outside pressure can involve jeopardizing relationships between the employer and lenders, investors, stockholders, customers, clients, patients, tenants, politicians, or others on whom the employer depends for funds.” The union advises using legal and regulatory pressure to “threaten the employer with costly action by government agencies or the courts.”
It details the use of community groups to “damage an employer’s public image and ties with community leaders and organizations.” SEIU recommends going after company officials personally. Not mincing words, SEIU states, “It may be a violation of blackmail and extortion laws to threaten management officials with release of ‘dirt’ about them if they don’t settle a contract. But there is no law against union members who are angry at their employer deciding to uncover and publicize factual information about individual managers.”
This is the first part of how this union has hijacked the will of the people to enact an extreme agenda and protect corruption within the government. The SEIU, through political contributions, illegal tactics, and use of leftist media, shapes the thoughts of those not aware of how they damage the economy and their freedoms. People need to be aware of these actions, which will be covered more in future articles.
